The Farmer's Letter: August 2024

Hello to all readers.

It is a warm but pleasant day at the farm. Since the rain a few weeks ago, the grass has been growing rapidly again. The cows and calves, as well as the turkeys and chickens, are enjoying the green lushness.

Our Thanksgiving turkeys are about 8 weeks old and doing well. We'll be taking orders soon. It's hard to believe we are already heading for fall!

This summer, we are managing our pigs differently. Instead of always keeping them in the same pasture, we are rotating them weekly. It's a little more work but also very fun to watch them eat grass, dig in the dirt, and run about squealing with glee in their new pasture.

Think of their cousins, who never have the opportunity to do anything except live in a barn on concrete floors with hundreds of other pigs and hardly ever get a breath of fresh air. By far, the biggest percentage of bacon served in eateries and sold in supermarkets is sourced from these concentrated operations. Sadly, many people don't realize what an unnatural the environment their meat is being raised in and what the animals are fed. You are what you eat–so choose wisely!

At the market, our friendly, loyal customers are such a blessing to us. You are the ones that make it possible for us to do what we do. Our goal is to let the love of God shine in our hearts and be a blessing in return.

Be sure to check out our expanded line of Mary Ruth's liquid supplements. We researched the company and tried the product ourselves and found it to be very clean and non-synthetic. This week, we are offering 15% off the whole lineup. Don't miss it!

Watermelons are still available but dwindling, so get yours this week while supplies last.

Peaches are in abundance yet but will not last long. Now is a good time to order your peach pies and peach cheesecakes for the holiday weekend!

Fresh, local, and organic apples will be in soon, as well as mums. We may even have some by the weekend. Be sure to watch for them!

Wishing many blessings to all!

From the farmer, his wife, and his family
